Is there a command line version of SETI BOINC for Windows XP home edition?
Whatever it takes.
The BOINC core client _is_ a command line program. It can be run in a console
or as a service.
BOINC Manager is a GUI element which interfaces to the core client through
RPC (TCP/IP) calls. You don't need to run it unless you want to look at
what's happening. There's a third-party alternative called BoincView which
many users prefer.
Applications for BOINC such as setiathome are executed by BOINC. They don't
have a window, but the standard versions can generate graphics to pass to
the screen saver. Optimized versions of setiathome are generally built
without those graphics capabilities.
I suggest you install the latest BOINC recommended version (5.2.13) as a
service. Then attach to setiathome; the standard application and some work
will be downloaded and start crunching.
