No. The boinc client should make a benchmark after the restart on the
new system.
I don't know about other versions, but the BOINC Menubar for Mac
includes a command to run the benchmarking process manually in case
it doesn't get updated automatically. Before he does so, though, I
suggest that he check his account on the S@h website: under
"Computers" he can inspect the specs that have been recorded,
including the CPU variety.
