I don't anticipate any real problems; there are several descriptions on
the web about how to set it up with various distributions; I should have
all the hardware I need (other than memory). Just a matter of getting it
all put together and upgrading the connection. As that involves a hefty
increase in the monthly cost ($57 more) it'll be the last thing I do.

When you are all done and have it up and running how about putting
together a how to so the rest of us that are interested but not as
able to put in the hours of research necessary can have a guideline.
Obviously the more detailed the better for those of us that have
little to no Linux backgrounds.

I'll do that. I'm planning to do a pretty thorough job of documenting
the entire setup anyway as an exercise to help sharpen my skills (I'm
a network administrator; Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003
are the daily fare, though). I have several recent Linux distros as
well as some of the BSD distros, and plan to do test setups with each
one to get as much practice as possible. Since we don't use it at work,
my *nix skills are getting badly out of date.

THANK YOU! That would be a big help, there ARE those keeping an eye on
this thread hoping you get it worked out!
