It worked just fine. I had to change the drive letter "D" as that's where
BOINC is, but it comes up on re-boot as desired.
Thanks again Eric.

Thanks Eric. I will give this a try and let this group know if it worked
for XP.

I have the BOINC icon in my startup but cannot get it to run minimized
on
a
reboot. I have the short set to "minimized" but BOINC opens maximized.

Anyone know how, where of even if there is a setting so the BOINC will
start
on boot and run in the tray.

Win XP Pro

TIA

Phil

Hi,

Try making a startup shortcut with the following command line:

start /m C:\Program Files\BOINC\boincmgr.exe /s

Boinc will still, momentarily, appear when it fires up but it will
automatically minimize itself right away.
I know with full certainty the above works with W98, but couldn't tell
you
if it does for W2K or WinXP.

If that doesn't work still, maybe make that command run from a batch
file
and have the startup shortcut point to it. Been so long that I don't
remember offhand how to match batch files run minimized and
automatically
close themselves though.

Pretty confident the above will work as a shortcut though.

Cheers,
Eric

No need to create a batch file. Just right-click the shortcut (in the
startup folder or wherever you keep it) and add the /s to the end

Example: E:\BOINC\boincmgr.exe /s

Then there's no need to fiddle around with the window states too. Leave
it to NORMAL.
