Better yet, get rid of Windows so that you don't need anything like

You choose your software first, then your OS. Unfortunately, that means
that many suckers have no choice but to use Windows.
(All from a non-Windows system. Antivirus not needed here.)
I guess no professional software is needed there, either. The Macintosh
is virus-free like Linux, but unlike Linux, the Mac can run great software
such as Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Guide, Indesign, GoLive, Flash
Author, Aperture, Final Cut Pro, PageMaker, ImageReady, Live Motion,
Starry Night and many, many, many others.
I'll agree re the Mac and OS X. I'll disagree on your Linux slur.
There is equally great (professional quality) Open Source software on
Linux. There is proprietary applications available also if you are
locked into that stuff. And you can even run the 'major' Windows apps on
Linux using the WINE environment.
Lots of choice and it works well.
The real killer is "proprietary lock-in" and the removal of choice users
(expensively) suffer from that. One particular now large company has
been dangerously successful with that scam.

Martin
