Now and then, Boinc Manager hangs up and can't connect to Local Host.
I am assuming this has to do with Zone Alarm. It is random and I can
see where the problem is. Any help or point to start looking would be
helpful.

If you haven't already done so, disable the automatic Internet lock and give access and server 
rights to BOINC Manager and BOINC client.
BOINC and ZoneAlarm work well on my machines with this configuration.
