If we ever receive a message from heaven it will, because of the large distances, be a message from the dead. There is no point in sending a message to a dead ET.

Archaeologists would disagree.  It is possible that any message from a
dead ET might contain whereabouts of their civilization.  So it could
lead to archaeological digs in the far future.  Much is learned on earth of extinct civilizations.
