Today i received this e-mail from them:

But all these successes are just a beginning. As you are aware, SETI@home

Yay, now we're not only going to pay for Berkeley research by donating
computertime, paying the electricity bill and transfer costs, now we also get
the opportunity to supply hard cash!

However, if they cannot convince Berkeley that the research is so serious and
important that it deserves some of the research funds available to Berkeley,
it's my opinion the SETI project should be closed.

Depending on how important the project is to YOU, you have the choice of
whether to:

donate;
lobby your politicians/representatives;
do nothing.

This is all your own choice and your importance.

There are various articles about how certain key (two?) senators have
very effectively vetoed funding for all SETI projects.

Keep searchin',
Martin

Martin, I know you're the everlasting (and in my eyes fanatic) defender of SETI,
BOINC and Berkeley. The lack of tolerance you show other participants, who might
not share your opinion, is regrettable. You have to learn to respect that everyone
has the right to their own opinions instead of posting content that directly or
indirectly criticize other participants for not sharing your enthusiasm and
dedication. Of course we make our own choices, withou you having to point out any
alternatives!

Then your continued existence in this group begs the question...WHY
are you still here?
If you do not believe in the project and dislike the software so much
that you cannot get over any like for the project, then why even
respond to those that you know do.
Whether people like the software or not is not our choice, it was
totally Berkeley's and they produced it, with lots of input from
people WAAAAY above our levels, and we either use it or not. As always
that is our choice. Did Microsoft ask you for your input on how the
new Windows will look? Do you REALLY think they would take it if you
did? Companies put out software all the time, mostly because they like
doing things one way and the current available software does not do it
that way. It is called free enterprise. If you dislike the Boinc
software that much, design a project, get funding, and write your own
software that looks and acts like Berkeley's old version of Classic. I
do not THINK it was copywrited, but you can always ask them.
ORRR you can sit here and complain about your lack of input, seems
like you choose the do the later.
One more thing...are so ashamed of the choice you made that you feel
as if you are being picked on by someone pointing out alternatives?
There are "shrinks" that can help with that.

Gee, another fanatic... *sighs*
I haven't said a word over the BOINC software in this thread. It is true that I didn't
like the forced transition, but I installed it, without any hazle whatsoever, and I'm
running it on my six computers at home 24/7. So I really don't understand what it is
you're ranting about now!
