Does your task manager and/or device manager show two processors?

I hadn't thought to check those items.
Device manager shows 2 instances of the processor.
Task manager / performance tab shows only 1 instance.
Now I am really confused.

did you install xp with ht enabled? or only with 1 cpu?

Thanks Alonzo,

is there such an option in xp installation?
I have not seen such a thing, but I am quite inexperienced.
Nick.

if you install win xp without ht enabled in the _bios_, then there is
no chance to get the 2 cpu working after installation because at the
installation multiple cpu support will be installed automatically.
there is no option at the installation, xp will see 2 cpus and will
install 2 cpu support. if xp sees 1 cpu - no multiple cpu support will
be installed. thats all

you have to do a fresh xp install again with ht enabled in the bios
(if you have forgotten to enable ht at the last install)
