Martin,
Have they begun sending out "old" workunits, i.e. are we doing wu's all over
again? All the enhanced wu's I got are from beginning of 1999...
At Berkeley, there is a "box of tapes" from which data tapes are pulled
out in a pseudo-random order. That box will be near empty by now.
Matt, the tape picker, has been working through previously discarded
tapes that include sections of high noise. He found them not to be so
bad as first thought and so we're working through some of those. The
dates on the tapes still in the box can be anywhere from 1999 to late
last year.
As to what next when they've run out of new tape data, I don't know.
It's still worthwhile to rerun some of the more interesting tapes on
s@h-enhanced due to the more sensitive search. This will also provide a
useful cross-check against the s@h-classic analysis for a parity check
of the analysis results.
Hopefully, the new ALFA + new data recorder will come online soon to
supply new yet more sensitive data for analysis.
Happy crunchin',
Martin
