Got my yearly powerbill and got a healthy refund, so i calculated
what it did cost me to run seti on my computers, so here:
Seti since 2000, 23067 workunits Seti Classic Cost of electricity
for that time in addition to normal use, 3800€ that makes it
around 0,165€ per WU.
now will anyone calculate total cost of Seti ??

Unfortunately using YOUR numbers will not give an accurate cost basis
number. The problem is that electricity costs are different world
wide, what you pay is probably much different than what I pay for
instance. I am in Virgina, USA and pay 6 1/2 cents per kilowatt hour
used. That is $0.065 per kilowatt hour. Your rate is probably much
higher.

I ran the figures several years ago when I was running 4 machines on
Seti, but today's higher powered monsters actually use less power and
I've gone from 19" CRTs to 19 and 20" LCDs with a substantial
reduction in power consumption.

Without measuring again, "I'd guess" it's taking about 120 watts per
machine, but the big 64 bit machine is so busy I quite running BOINC
on it. I'd have to go back and look up when I started, but it was
right around the time the system went on line, or may have still been
in beta test.

At any rate 120 per is 360 watts per hours * 24 = 7.68 KWH per day *
30 = and as we run on a graduated system and the computer in my shop
runs on cheaper electricity I'd have to take another guess and put the
average at roughly 6.5 cents per KWH as well. Figuring that, "for me"
the cost is *about* $15 USD per month. (give or take)

I did 62,118 Classic units, I started 17 Dec 1999 and have been
crunching ever since. I have also added machines along the way, I
started with one machine but quickly went to 4 machine and am
currently upto about 20.
