Please, this isn't an attempt to start another silly OS vs OS thread, but
whats the deal with Boinc running so much better in Windows than GNU/Linux?
You would think it would be the other way around.
I've used, and continue to use, Windows (XP/2003), GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, and
even Solaris. (Even used SCO UNIXWare in the past - yuck!). I'm not
partial to any particular OS. I use each in a manner to best take advantage
of them.
I've found that Boinc runs the best in Windows Server 2003, with XP Pro
coming in second.
Is Boinc just optimized for Windows over Linux? Would compiling Boinc
source under GCC improve it much under Linux?
TIA,
Eric
