I'm running version 5.4.9, haven't upgraded to 5.4.11 yet.  Kboincspy hasn't
been updated in awhile so I have been using boincmgr included in the Boinc
package.  To see if boincmgr runs just open a terminal and go to the BOINC
directory and do ./boincmgr.  Assuming you didn't delete boincmgr during
your install.  If it runs you can make a link from your desktop to a script

#!/bin/sh
cd /path to/BOINC
./boincmgr&

and make the script executable.  Boincmgr gives you a lot of info and links
and may work better than Kboincspy.
