I used to post here a few years back and have recently

With the advent of the BOINC architecture, virtually all activity
has apparently migrated to forums. This group sees probably less
than 10 posts per month these days.

The sci.astro.seti group gets a fair bit more traffic, but it's mostly
from the tinfoil-hat brigade.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that was always the case, going back a few years ago when I was a
regular here. That group was, as you so elegantly put it, home of the
tinfoil-hat brigade. This group was more about the computing side of things,
optimising the client/PC for maximum through-put etc. I have no intention of
joining the tinfoil folks, I've just upgraded to a Core 2 Duo and wondered
how folks were going with, what is for me, this new generation of CPU.

Cheers,
