Hi there,

Yesterday-evening I updated my BOINC machines to the latest & greatest
version, 5.10.45. This went without any problems on the Windows based
machines, but I did run into some problems with my Linux machines:

After installing BOINC, all of them got new IDs assigned, and
re-Initialised the Seti@Home project. I somehow managed to fix this for 2
(deleted one of them) machine, but 1 others ended up with their new IDs.
The slowest of these currently has 3 Tasks in progress, but the old WUs,
downloaded under the old ID, are still in the
BOINC/project/setiathome..../ directory.

The other one, a somewhat faster P4-2.8GHz HT machine, is now listed in my
'Show Computers' list twice, and the Account page does not allow me to
Merge these two clearly identical instances. This weird thing is, the
'old' ID still has 88 WUs in progress. The new ID is listed as having 36
WU's in progress, but when I look at the load using 'boinc_curses' (or the
Windows BOINC Manager client), it has only 8 WUs available.

Did anyone else experience this, and more important: is there a way to fix
this now? I'd at least like to force-merge the two identical machines, so
that the WU's aren't 'lost'.

Regards,

Patrick.

I updated 2 WinXpHome systems and 4 Mandriva 2007.0 systems without seeing the
problems that you describe.

On the Linux systems, I just stopped the BOINC client, and did an sh of the
downloaded upgrade file, then restarted BOINC. Works for me every time. :-)
