If we are to escape from war, it shall be by climbing the Kardashev

There are many factors to population expansion: Religion, heavy favour
of male over female, aid donor racism and rediculously false moral
dogmas, male dominance of sexual partnerships, low education levels,
lack of prevention available locally without social stigma, lack of
social security for the aged requiring large numbers of surviving
offspring, overcompensation for loss of offspring due to preventable
disease, deliberate teenage childbirth to get on social security and
social housings ladders, ghettoisation, unemployment, drug abuse,
sexual abuse and rape, dependency on a male for survival, etc.
Unfortunately none of these situations is likely to change much with a
pandemic or global war. In fact they may even intensify childbirth to
overcompensate for losses in many societies. Just as they do today.

You are correct. We had better abandon all hope of a voluntary escape
from damaging population expansion where the human race is
concerned.
