The server status page is all green and there are no other indications there is a problem. Boinc
says "downloading" but nothing downloads. in the messages it says "HTTP Error". In the transfer
page, it sometimes says "project backoff". I don't remember seeing that before. I recently updated
Boinc. Someone suggested my version of Boinc, 6.10.18 is no good. Does anyone know anything about
this?
Thanks.

Possible DNS issue. Yes, the project backoff message is new, but the
function isn't. Running 6.10.18 on one of my machines without issues.

I'd suggest flushing your DNS cache if you know how, including your DSL
modem. If you don't know how, just power down the machine, power cycle the
DSL box and then power on the machine. If this doesn't clear it up, go
onto the forum boards and post in the Panic Mode On thread in the Number
Crunchers forum. Lots of experts there. Include a short excerpt of the
messages you are getting.

Thanks. I'm on HughesNet, but I'll try rebooting the HN7000s satellite modem, which has a built-in
router. I'm having the same problem on multiple computers with different versions of Boinc and
different OS'es, so that rules out a lot. Intra-computer communication seems to be working fine, as
does Internet access, but web pages often have to be loaded twice, as is often the case with my
HughesNet system. On the WU's that say "Downloading", if I hit "retry" about 50 times, especially at
2 or 3 AM, it will finally download. This problem started some time last week.
