Relatively few discrepancies exist in the accounts from the two witnesses. To some extent, these minor discrepancies enhance the credibility of the witnesses, since no two people pay attention to the same factors to the same degree, and since there has been a four year time lapse since the event, with relatively little discussion or thinking about the event.
The following summarizes the discrepancies and any resolution possible:
| Topic | Husband | Wife | Resolution If Any |
| Time | 2:45 | about 2 PM | Husband reports checking clock. |
| Shadow On Ground | Observed | Not observed | Only husband noted shadow, (assumed) wife was looking elsewhere |
| Object Surface Geometry | Faceted | Smooth | Unknown |
| Duration | 10-15 secs | 5 to 6 secs | Unknown; 7 secs used for analysis |
| Initial observation location | about 0.1 mi before wife's estimate | Later, the husband agreed with his wife, because the initial area he mentioned was too narrow with trees to have offered the sight of the object which he was sure he had. We believe this is a genuine resolution based on objective reconsideration by the witness. However it is possible that the first location represents where the husband saw the shadow. See information on observational constraints for more on this. |
Areas of agreement are substantial
Approximate date / time
Overall object appearance and details
Object specularity and color
Specific object feature ("windows")
General object direction of travel
General object altitude (just above the trees of the ridge, and no variations)
Approximate azimuth of appearance and disappearance
Approximate elevation angle at appearance.
Location of vehicle at disappearance.
Approximate vehicle speed
Windows open due to the way the air conditioning operated
Weather conditions
An investigation of the weather at http://www.wunderground.com:80/history/airport/KOXC/1995/7/15/DailyHistory.html shows the conditions match those described by the witnesses:
| Observed: July 15,1995 | |
| Mean Temperature | 81.1° F |
| Max Temperature | 97.9° F |
| Min Temperature | 73.9° F |
| Cooling Degree Days | 20 |
| Growing Degree Days | 25 (base 60°F) |

Note the relatively slow wind speed and high temperature.
Also note this is an unusual July 15th condition. The following is for 1994 and 1996

According to http://veggie.org/run/humidity.shtml, the humidity percieved would have been found in the following table:
So How Does Dew Point Feel?
On a typical summer day the following apply:
Dew Point(F)..........Perception
75+....................Extremely uncomfortable
70-74...................Very humid, quite unfomfortable
65-69...................A bit uncomfortable for most people
60-64...................Ok for most, but everyone begins to feel the humidity
55-59...................Comfortable
50-54...................Very comfortable
<=49...................Feels like the west, very pleasant, a bit dry to some
This would match the witness report that the day was also quite humid.
