Report Summary
|
"The sighting area is in the rear portion of All Saints Cemetary, Middletown
Rd (Rt 17) Northford (North Haven) CT. This spot, just off the paved access
road, is neatly mowed lawn and directly adjacent to a large, undeveloped,
weed strewn field. She had marked the location with a piece of wire stuck
into the earth... There were no power lines, railroad tracks, water towers,
or other major utilities within our field of view. There were no marks...
visible, with the exception of tractor [tire marks] running through the
lawn. My compass showed no magnetic disturbance... When walking on the morning
of her sighting, as she approached the grass area, she heard a 'static'
sound, which directed her attention to an object resting on the ground.
She described the object as "helmet shaped", and said her first thought
was that someone had fallen from a bicycle or motorcycle, but soon realized
that the object was much too large to be a bicycle or motorcycle helmet.
She continued walking until she had approached within 30 or 40 feet of the
[object]. She... described it as 'red metallic', about two feet wide and
two feet high, with a large concentration of white lights constantly blinking.
She said she watched the lights blink for an estimated ten minutes, before
she became alarmed at hearing the words "oops, we goofed", twice. She was
certain she heard those words spoken inside her head. After becoming alarmed,
she quickly moved off in the direction of a nearby monument, and, once there,
became curious and [returned] to the sighting spot on the lawn. When she
[arrived] the object was gone. Her trip to and back from the monument would
have taken about four minutes. "[Another woman] who was waiting at the cemetary with [the witness] told us about [a] sighting. She said it occurred fifteen years ago in the same graveyard. The object she saw was large, bowl-shaped, metallic, and directly overhead, several hundred feet up. [This earlier sighting has] almost no resemblance to, and probably no connection with [the primary event]."[footnote 1] |
