9/24/01 This image is the product of several days of continuous work. It stands for the response of America to the vicious terrorist attack on its people. This image was composed of an image of the flag "Star Spangled Banner" , which was flying above Ft. McHenry at Baltimore when the British attacked on September 13, 1814, and which was still flying the next day. It was the inspiration for Francis Scott Key to write the American National Anthem. The snake is the standard Poser4 Rattlesnake with its default texture. The F-15s and the carrier are objects from the Carrara library. The flag was mapped onto a Bryce terrain that had been rescaled vertically and softened. An infinite water plain with carefully generated waves and a Bryce rock with a volumetric cloud texture complete the natural objects. An orange Bryce dawn is the primary light source, with a pale blue array of 20 randomly distributed lights offering shadow fill and the sense of skylight. Rendering took 18 hours on a PC with a 500MHz Celeron. |
