Simulation Of A UFO Video

The source image for the animation

This video is intended to show the ability of modern computer graphics technology to be used by those hoaxing UFO videos. This particular animation is based on the 1997 Mexico City UFO video, which, because the videographer has never come forward, and because two of the most detailed studies of the video indicate that it does not have certain characteristics of a real video, remains suspect as a computer-generated or video-montaged hoax.

The animation was created using Canoma (to extract the building geometry and image maps from a panorama built from the video) and Carrara (to model the object and the render the objects and buildings in the animation).

The buildings extracted from the video panorama using Canoma

The shake modifer is used on the camera to create the "handheld" look. The spin modifier is applied to the object to create the rotation. A variety of ease-in and ease out tweeners make the motion and camera behavior more natural.

You'll notice that the video date is left on the buildings, to prevent the animation being considered real.
