Step Back And Burn The Paper

Step Back And Burn The Paper

This is my first complete image with Ray Dream Studio from MetaCreations. It took about five days from start to finish, and was completed on 3/12/2000 at 10PM.

The image on the screen is an actual Ray Dream session (color inverted) used to create the image hanging on the wall. That image is a simulation for an actual UFO investigation conducted in 1999.

Many of the objects in the image are stock Ray Dream objects. The monitor, the window, the picture frame, the crumpled paper, fire, and the room are all original - as, of course, is the composition, shading selection, and lighting. The window frame uses a custom shader to combine wood grain and nicks.

This image embodies a type of light which I love - sharp, crisp, dustless, carving an image out of a room by its presence and absence.

It also embodies a symbol - the end of paper as my art medium.
