Statistical Analysis of the Hudson Valley UFO "Boomerang" |

The Hudson River valley of New York state was the site of one of the most widely witnessed and extended episodes of UFO activity ever. Literally thousands of witnesses observed the objects, and many photos and videos were taken. The object hovered in the plain sight of many witnesses in such public locations as the Taconic Parkway. Despite the widespread and detailed nature of the observations, and attempts to attribute the sightings to undocumented hoax flights by pilots whose identities were never revealed, no reasonable explanation which accounted for the majority of observations was ever found. A book was written on the case[footnote 1], and the book included a section summarizing statistics on the recorded observations. However, those statistics were not collated into a single table or a graph for easy determination of trends and changes in the observations over time. Therefore, I have undertaken that task. The following is a table of the basic data:
