8/24/67 - Hydes, between Melbourne and Sydney, Aust.; 5PM

Report Summary "...he suddenly found himself surrounded by a bluish-white light... from above him... he was blinded by the light and had to stop the cycle. The light was so bright... that it blotted out the surrounding countryside, and all he could see was the light and a little bit of the road ahead of him... He saw a disk-shaped object about 100' away to his left off the road...
"The disk appeared as two saucers joined together at the rim, and the top was silver... and either a very dark grey or black underneath... the thing was not actually resting on the ground, but rather... it hovered three or four feet above it.
"[He] heard a vehicle going by, turned to flag it down... and when he turned back to the object, there were two figures standing on the side of the object closest to him. They appeared to be about 5' tall... were dressed n some sort of metallic coverall which did not appear to have any fasteners of any kind... this clothing had the same sort of sheen as the craft behind them. On their heads was a sort of helmet which was not transparent and which was darker than the suits...
"He decided to experiment then, and took one step forward; the two figures did the same... then the one on Hydes' left took another couple of steps toward Hydes and lifted [a] hand in a beckoning gesture.
"...'I panicked... I just dived on the bike and took off down the road...'"
"...Hydes proceeded down the road... [at] about 100 mph, and before long, realized that the object was keeping company with him... It preceeded him down the road... at a distance of between 100-200' altitude... as soon as hep spotted the object, he began to slow down, and the object decreased its speed to correspond with his until he was nearly stopped... To his surprise, the disk tilted its base toward Hydes and 'shot straight up into the air at about a 45 degree angle and vanisshed in about two seconds.'"[footnote 1]
