Report Summary
"Mr. Seaman [actual name confidential] owns a small airport along a major
river in New England... Shortly after 2AM Mrs. Seaman awoke [due to] a loud
whirring sound [that] permeated the house momentarily and stopped... she
awoke her husband... [who] got up and turned on the yard lights. Hovering
just 25 feet [above] a small pond between the house and the airport was
... like 'two shallow metallic saucers, one inverted upon the other, with
a transparent canopy situated on its topside.' Elongated ventlike holes
spaced evenly around the object's rim emitted soft orange flames. A softer
greener light illuminated the interior of the canopy, which revealed two
headlike silhoettes that appeared to move and look at him...[he] headed
toward the object, waving his hands at it as he went... its orange lights
began to spin faster... Tilting back at an angle of about thirty degrees,
it shot away into the dark morning sky."[footnote

"...shallow metallic saucers, one inverted upon the other with a clear canopy
situated on the edge of the uppermost disk facing him. Elongated vent-like
holes were spaced evenly around the rim which emitted soft orange flames
'like gas stove flames'. A softer, greenish light illuminated the interior
of the canopy revealing two head-like silhouettes behind two upright 'lobster-claw-like'
silhouettes... Thinking that the object was an aircraft in trouble, he walked
toward it yelling and waving his arms, whereupon it reacted by moving smoothly
and silently away from him at a speed estimated between 5 and 10 mph. It
maintained the same altitude and again stopped and hovered over some gasoline
tanks and aircraft. [The witness] then walked around the pond and again
approached the object yelling and waving, whereupon the object reacted by
beginning to spin rapidly making a loud swishing sound that increased to
a loud whirring sound. The object then tilted back at an angle of 30-45
degrees and took off at a very high rate of speed, dwindling in size until
it disappeared into the distance... Concurrently... the yard light dimmed
to practically nothing and then came back on full strength. As he approached
the area over which the object had been hovering he noticed a smell 'like
from a burning match' lingering in the air but quickly dissipating after
a few minutes... total sighting duration was not much more than a minute...
he felt no air motion or heat."[footnote

Object Appearance
Metallic disk, 50 feet in diameter, 25 feet high including dome. Dome
transparent with two occupants and greenish interior light. Rotating orange
'flames' at rim.
"...The material of which the craft was constructed was smooth and was compared
to the aluminum an airplane propellor is constructed of or like brushed
aluminum. It was not highly reflective, yet it was not completely dull.
The lights from the porch and the object's glowing rim and canopy combined
with its closeness which varied between an estimated 100-250 feet enabled
[the witness] to get a real good look at it. Its size was... approximately
50 feet in diameter by 25 feet high (drawing does not show this proportion)
including the upright canopy. There were no signs of protrusions, seams,
or rivets, and the canopy was described as made of the clearest material
he had ever seen."[footnote 3]

Object Behavior
Hovered, avoided witness' approach, departed when witness confronted object.
Increased speed of rim luminosity rotation and 30 degree backward tilt prior
to departure. |
Occupant Description
"A softer, greenish light illuminated the interior of the canopy revealing
two head-like silhouettes behind two upright 'lobster-claw-like' silhouettes.
The head-like silhouettes were initially described... as having 'ears' or
'antennae' and long sharp nose-like protrusions... however [the witness]
failed to mention the 'ears' or 'antennae' to us when we interviewed him
but did mention the nose-like protrusions and the fact that he thought he
could visualize 'eye areas' set back in the 'heads'. He stated that his
impressions were vague and although he thought it possible that the silhouettes
could have been living entities, that they could perhaps have been robots
or just part of the craft itself..."[footnote
