| Report Summary |
"[street] lights in the town were suddenly switched off...
a powerful rumble like an earthquake... the object ... [was] oval, red,
surrounded with white 'flames', and it flew toward them at an altitude of
11,000 (possible typo, may be 1,000, see later witness) feet... Jean-Marc
became unable to breathe and fainted.... Mr. Bachere... saw 'a large orange
ball, very bright' that hovered over La Reole before disappearing. It reappeared
over the same spot one minute later... photoelectric cells... control the
street lights... Distance between the cell and the UFO as 135-480 m (400-1500
ft)... this yields an energy level between 160 kW and 5mW.[footnote
