Last year it was above 80,000' according to the commentator.  I couldn't
believe how quiet the SR-71 is.  It did a T&G not more than 500' from
us, full afterburners, you could see the shock diamonds, and a lick of
flame so long it was still hitting the ground at 45 º when it went back
up, and you could talk over it!  Try doing that with a stealth bomber at
2 miles!!
