From: "James R. Case in point: the new series, "What If". It is a putrid stew of bad drama and bad writing. It is a 'speculative' documentary type deal. Last night's (1/14/97) episode was on the possible ramifications of contact (SETI-type contact) with extraterrestrial intelligences (ETI). It was done as a documentary from 1999 and among other things had a whole new (at least to me) read on the Roswell Incident. Apparently, the craft that crashed was indeed a MOGUL balloon, but the secretive part was the the balloon had recieved an extraterrestrial signal--boy, those MOGUL balloons must have SENSETIVE sensors to pick up a signal sent from 17 light-years away. The commentaries from 'people on the street' were trite and predictable. A thumbs down in my humble opinion. james James R. Graham Senior Assoc.
