From: campbell@ufomind.com (Glenn Campbell, Las Vegas) Date: Thu, 10 Jul 1997 15:47:59 -0800 Subject: X-33 Environmental Report Now Available |
A Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the X-33 spaceplane has just been released. It ought to provide all of the facts on the program that you couldn't get from the June 1997 Popular Mechanics article -- including where it is taking off and landing. I have only a few pages of the executive summary, which say that the craft will take off from Edwards and land at China Lake, Dugway Proving Grounds or Malmstrom Air Force Base. (There is no mention of the Green River Launch Complex.) The report was released June 1997 by NASA, and a copy can probably be obtained from them. Dr. Rebecca McCaleb at Marshall Space Flight Center is listed as the information contact.
