From: "A.J. Craddock"Date: Tue, 10 Jun 1997 09:03:29 -0800 Subject: Re: Intel using alien technology etc. The following was classified as a "loon" posting. However about 7 years ago one of our computer techs. was on a flight somewhere and he found himself sitting next to a computer engineer who worked for the military. They started talking shop - hard drives etc., and the military guy volunteered that they were already using a hard drive that was essentially biological. It had a terrabyte capacity, was cube shaped, and would easily fit in the palm of your hand. Apparently it was packed with microbes (or some such) that would all align in one direction when hit with a laser from one side, and then align in the opposite direction with a laser stimulation from a different side. Thus eliminating the need for magnetic devices. True story, and at least 7 years old.
