Welcome to the Ufomind Contributors Mailing list.  This list is
intended for people who regularly add links to the index pages on
www.ufomind.com. There are just seven of us so far (but we are
adding 99% of the links).

I will send you messages as I fix bugs and make changes to the
Ufomind system that you might want to know about.  This is also
the place to discuss techniques, style & ethics.

This is a primitive list.  For now, I will not be archiving these
messages on the web, although I will be saving them for future
reference and will probably put them on the web eventually. All
the users are on the "TO:" line above, but if you want to send a
message, please send it only to me.  I will then add my own
comments and send it to everyone.

Feel free to send me any questions you have about procedures and
I will answer them for everyone.  Eventually, these messages will
be available on the web so I don't have to answer the question
again.

THE UFOMIND LINK SYSTEM

For your info, here is how the link system works at my end:

Whenever a link is added to an index page, an email message is
automatically sent to me containing all the information you
added. (A sample message is below.)  I then delete the email if
everything looks  okay, or I delete or modify the entry if there
is a problem.

The initials of the person making the change appear in the title.
When it is someone I have come to trust (like "jla") then I don't
even bother to read the message but delete it immediately.  Other
messages I have to examine more closely until the contributor has
a track record. This is why it is important to always include
your initials when adding a link.  (You can use your full name,
but initials are faster to type.)  You don't have to include your
email address anymore, since I now know who you are.

Because every change has to go through me, I am dealing with a
LOT of email everyday.  This isn't a problem if I only have to
spend ten seconds on each message.  I am working on systems right
now to streamline the process.  In the future, it will all be
handled by email, which means that one of you can fill in for me
if you are interest.  (The moderator receives an email containing
the new link, then sends a reply email containing any changes.
It should be quick and easy.)
