This Global Air Chiefs Conference is to further cooperation and support among world air power leaders in the spirit of Global Engagement. Global Engagement is the new vision for the Air Force of the 21st century. The gathering of air chiefs represents the largest single meeting of air and space leaders in history. Culminating the meeting will be a two-day Golden Air Tattoo international air show at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., April 25-26. The air show, which is open to the public, is scheduled to feature four foreign demonstration teams. There will be static displays and flyovers depicting examples of every aircraft in the Air Force inventory, as well as many vintage aircraft. The Air Force Thunderbirds aerial demonstration squadron will perform on both days. Additionally, the Air Force Association is sponsoring an International Air Power Symposium and Exposition at the Las Vegas Convention Center during that week. These events are part of worldwide recognition of the "Golden Legacy and Boundless Future" of the U. S. Air Force as it celebrates 50 years of service to the nation as an independent branch of the military. The Air Force was established Sept. 18, 1947, by President Harry S. Truman with the signing of the National Security Act.
