Your picture is of a VORTAC navigation beacon. Pictured from top to
bottom, you have an AT-100 Electronically scanned TACAN (Tactical Air
Navigation System) antenna. It is the cylindrical white antenna mounted
on an orange support ring, it is produced by RANTEC Microwave,
Calabasas CA. I cannot tell from the picture what type of TACAN
transponder gear is used. Housed in the cone shaped radome, under the
orange ring, houses the VOR (Very High Frequency Omnirange) antenna.
The 16 small white chicklet shaped antennas mounted around the edge
of the counterpoise are the monitor antennas for the VOR. The flat roof
where the monitor antennas are mounted is the counterpoise, this is used
as a reflecting plane to aid in the VOR signal generation. The building
under the system houses the VOR transmitter and the TACAN
transponder.

JP-8 FUEL AT BASECAMP

Cannon AFB changed over to JP-8 several years ago. And talk about
problems! Little leaks that JP-4 wouldn't go through were SIEVES to JP-8.
Took months to get the F-111's to quit leaking.
As for operating the engines -- as far as I know, there is no
difference.
