Subject: Bob Lazar on ESPN2

I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you about Bob Lazar's
appearance on ESPN2 this past Sunday. He was on the "Speed Week"
show which is devoted to NASCAR and drag racing. He told his
typical story and acted very serious. It just doesn't make much
sense to see Bob Lazar on ESPN2! He would seem more at home on
the Sci-Fi channel.

I am not sure what you are referring to. On our People Pages, we
try to record who is a critic of whom, which doesn't necessarily
mean hate (although it usually does). I think it is an important
measure of character to know who a person's opponents are.
>In return, I have read other
>postings of others discrediting your character and motives.
It comes with the position and doesn't bother me much. It is
easier to deal with people criticizing my character and motives
than criticizing my work, which might actually require a
response.
>I'm confused. Why must there be this constant source of bickering?
The presence of humans.
>As an Optical Engineer, I have never seen such in-fighting in

As an optical engineer, you have rules to live by. The UFO field
has none. The laws of optics provide some stability, but if you
took them away, your field would be as contentious as ours.
>I hope that this is not indicitive of the UFO community as a

Yes, it is.
>Glenn, I beleive you have alot to offer the UFO/Area51 layman.
I have no interest in educating the layman.

No, my motives are to explore the human condition. Nearly every
claim in the UFO and paranormal fields hinges on human
personalities, so that is what I am seeking to define and record.

CONAN DOYLE'S ALTITUDE

I'm too lazy to research the details, but I wouldn't be so cocky
about altitude. The absolute propeller altitude record of 56,046
ft. was set in 1938 in an Italian biplane, and I believe was only
broken (officially) this year by the solar-powered Pathfinder
drone. So 41,300 ft. may not have been that unattainable in
1930, though I suspect the story was set at an unachieved
altitude to make the air snakes more plausible. They almost
sound like contrails.

That's all we got. We hung around the area, but there wasn't
much to do. If we climbed the hill, we would suppress the
landing, but if we stayed below, we couldn't get any radio
reception. We ran up and down the hill a few times but didn't
hear or see anything more.
>What was the frequency that you were tuned to?
It is an unpublished frequency on the standard VHF aviation band.
I don't have it handy, but it has been changed anyway. You can
get these frequencies by scanning for them, but you have patience
and a good location.

Bah! We don't deal with those newfangled thingamabobs. I'm sure
the journalist still has the tape, but is it worth pursuing?

URI GELLER AT SRI

To: "'campbell@ufomind.com'" <campbell@ufomind.com>
Subject: RE: THE TRUTH ABOUT URI GELLER
Date: Thu, 20 Nov 1997 20:11:50 -0800
I know a guy who said he was one of the researchers at SRI and
participated on the Uri experiments. I tend to believe him
because our conversation was an aside to our main purpose (a
glider course). He said Uri was successful in spite of all their
controls on the experiment. He thought Uri was on the level. Just
because a magician can duplicate Uri's feats does not necessarily
mean that Uri is using trickery to produce his effects. I don't
know. There's so much noise, it's yet another thing about which
we'll probably never know the truth :-(. As you say, might as
well just hang on for the ride. :-)
[As I recall from a book somewhere (Schnabel's?), the problems
that Puthoff, et al, had with Geller is that he wouldn't stay
within the confines of the experiment. He produced results only
on his terms and thus was difficult to test. In the end, the
question wasn't whether or not he was psychic but whether or
not they could work with him, and the answer was definitely no.
Randi just makes the question that much murkier. There seems
little doubt that Geller will use trickery when given the
opportunity, so the problems of evaluation are compounded.
Sort of like Lazar. Is _something_ true behind the facade?
Maybe. Is this the best way to spend our limited resources?
Probably not. --G]

Subject: Compliments on a Structurally rich Web page...
accessible to blind users!
I want to congratulate the person (s) responsible for the
structurally rich design of this web page, that thus makes it
accessible to non-sighted users that have suitable Screen
readers.... this is what non-sighted author/ researcher
T.V.Raman (researcher in the Advanced Technology Group at Adobe)
has so strongly advocated, in his editorial, "Websurfing Without
a Monitor," on p.. 73, in the March, 1997 issue of *Scientific
American*.
As I am visually impaired, I found your website easily readable,
and not congested with superfulous graphics, bells, and
whistles...keep up the good work!
A side-benefit to your low-bandwith page is the faster download
times, AND it being accessable by older PC's, and slower modems;
especially for 3rd world Internet users.

SHATNER'S AREA 51 MOVIE

Subject: New Area 51 Movie!?
From: ben williams <williams@videotexsystems.com>
Groom Lake: It seems William Shatner has a big thing for UFO's
(and no that doesn't include that thing on his head). The man who
made dozens of Baywatch-like alien woman swoon all over him in
"Star Trek", has written and is looking to direct & act in this
film which sounds very much like "The X-Files" (but without the
sexy, professional presence of one Dana Scully). "It's about the
mysterious goings on at Area 51 (in Nevada), the location for
much Air Force UFO experimentation" Shatner told an America
On-Line audience. No word on when shooting is to begin, but he
seems eager to get the project underway.

First ,I wish to compliment you on a superb website.
Second, I think that you are probably including works by Kal
Korff for the sake of being comprehensive. I hope that at some
point he does not take offense at the fact that you have not
included his correct title before his name.
It's SPECIAL AGENT.
[I don't usually select books to be comprehensive. I sell Korff's
books because I like them. I don't see how Korff's alleged
"Agent" status (or my own) makes a difference: An author either

Your quote.....

>not know how to spell it.
I believe the correct spelling is chemotherapy..... As in the
title above, "people who life in glass houses should not throw
stones". It is not very nice. Also, "Judge not lest you be
judged". A little kindness and compassion can go a very long
way. Perhaps you might want to think about that, but then again,
I should not presume to know your nature.
And no, Mr, Campbell, though I am on the Skywatch mailing list, I
don't know the Colonel very well at all. I am just a good friend
to some Skywatchers.
[Yipes! I've been caught! Henceforth I vow to show more kindness
and compassion to all creatures.... We love you, Colonel Steve,
and wish you a speedy "recovery." (Ooops, sorry for the quotes
there. Another typo.) --G]

I would like this message to go directly to Mr. Cambell I beg
you. First of all this site is ridiculous all i see is assumed
data, inconclusive writings, pictures and an advertisement to make
money somewhere down the road. Personally i think you suck. I
have been into ufo's for 18 years and in that amount of time i
have gathered real pictures and evidence i travel alone and take
pictures alone so no one has seen what i have seen, guranteed. I
chose this site because the 2 factors of ufo research are here.
talent, patience. I am writing to offer a reconstruction of this
web site i am full of ideas and i have evidence that is
undeniable and we could feture it on the internet. why the
internet is the fastest way to get my things across i don't have
time to make one because i am leaving for lincoln nebraska
sightings have been reported on the out skirts. frankly your site
needs help and i can help you. I can not gurantee the safety of
the information i am so impatient to get out but it has to be
seen.experts like yourselves should understand that. consider it,
if your smart you will take me seriosly and if you value your ufo
research you will take me seriously.
