In response to an earlier posting at: http://www.ufomind.com/area51/list/1997/oct/a10-002.shtml ...Paul LaViolette sent us the following request. He says the posting of his B-2 article is "illegal by international copyright law." He also phoned me. (We had a few sharp words and I hung up on him.) LaViolette claims in his article that the B-2 bomber is an antigravity craft. My response follows his. --------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 26 Oct 1997 10:36:48 -0500 (EST) Subject: * Feedback COMPLAINT - /area51/list/1997/oct/a10-002.shtml Commenting on: http://www.ufomind.com/area51/list/1997/oct/a10-002.shtml From: Paul LaViolette <gravitics1@aol.com> NEW URL: http://www.macconnect.com/~stargate/ I am the author of the B2 antigravity article. I copyrighted this article in 1993. Posting of it is illegal by international copyright law. I have approved an excerpt of this article which people may post with my permission if they agree to link to the Sphinx Stargate website (http://www.macconnect.com/~stargate/) and provide information for ordering the book "Electrogravitics Systems" in which this B2 paper appears. I ask you that you remove this article immediately and replace it with the approved posting which I can email to you. Starlane Publications will soon add a page on the Sphinx Stargate website advertising this book. Perhaps you could provide some compensation for this posting error by purchasing some of my books for your bookstore. In particular Earth Under Fire has been received with great interest by people interested in UFO's and millenium issues. Another book that would sell well is "Subquantum Kinetics" which is physics and astronomy oriented and has a chapter on Brown's work and electrogravitics. Also you may wish to contact Tom Valone to purchase copies of "Electrogravitics Systems" the book that contains the B2 paper and other interesting material. Please let me know where you obtained this article so I can inform others to remove their postings of it. Sincerely yours, Paul LaViolette ----- Supplemental Information ----- USER GOT CC : REPRINT : Do Not Reprint REPLY : Please Reply ==================================================================== From Glenn: On the feedback form, LaViolette flagged his message, "Do Not Reprint," a request that I usually respect. I choose to reprint the message here anyway because (A) He is asserting copyright on a document, and I think if you are going to do that you must do it openly, and (B) He is requesting "compensation," which really rubs me the wrong way. For more on our email policies see http://www.ufomind.com/org/email.shtml I generally _will_ remove documents from this server when an author claims copyright infringement, but I am not going to compensate anyone if the mistake was innocent. In this case, there was no copyright statement on the document, and it had already been distributed on another mailing list. Only a portion of the original article was included in our posting. I am certainly not going to provide compensation by including any book in my catalog. The only criteria for including a book in the catalog is that I personally think the book is worth more the the purchase price and is genuinely useful. Our motto: "We won't sell rubbish" (which unfortunately eliminates 98% of all UFO and paranormal books). This philosophy is different from that of rest of the website, where rubbish is generally welcomed, if not cherished, so long as it is linked to the appropriate index page. As for the B-2 thesis, let's say I am unconvinced. There could be other reasons for electrically charging the leading edges of the B-2. Perhaps in some way it helps reduce the radar profile of the plane -- which is the whole point of stealth. Perhaps it helps reduce turbulance or encourage laminar flow. Maybe, just maybe, the B-2 does indeed make use of antigravity technology, but to me books on the subject and most other anti-gravity claims haven't yet crossed the line into "worth the money." LaViolette has sent me another message, an excerpt of the original article, which he says I should use to replace the article posted to the website. I do not feel that I owe him this courtesy, however. I am generally non-judgemental about these claims and would would not object to this message if submitted through normal channels, but if I am forced to decide how to use my own resources, LaViolette's thesis does not strike me as worth the effort. The original message has been edited to remove the offending material, with the deleted section clearly marked.
