This story strikes me as interesting because it says that UFO watchers were coming to the Rachel vicinity prior to Lazar's claims on Las Vegas TV in 1989. I have no information at all on this social "pre-history" and have always assumed that Lazar triggered the UFO tourism. If anyone has more info, please let me know. -- GC ======================================================================= Date: 7 Sep 1997 From: JABALI <JABALI@prodigy.net> To: "Glenn Campbell, Las Vegas" <campbell@ufomind.com> Subject: October 1988 "lost time" Glenn, I have had an interesting experience that i care to share with you. On the 29th of October in 1988 i was driving northbound along the 15 hwy in Riverside county, Calif. My radio was OFF. A voice said clearly " A.M. 1190". I turned on my radio to that station and listened to a talk show hosted by Adventure Radio. This radio station does not exsist now...it was shut down about 2 weeks later. Anyway the subject was last years Halloween riots and pranks, mutilated animals and such...then they reported that there were two seats left on the bus leaving to Rachel Nevada, area 51, dreamland, etc. I turned my car around and headed back to my friend's house with intent on prepairing to travel to Nevada and look for UFO's. 2 hours later, we arrived and were admitted onto the bus leaving from Anahiem, Calif. The trip was rather uneventfull, we made some friends en route, mostly talked about UFO encounters and such..which by the way i have never had any such experience to my recollection. We arrived at the supposed Dreamland Vortex..i would estimate about 2 hrs drive or so from Rachel. We got out and mingled with the 350 or so UFO buffs and other interesting beings gathered around campfires speaking of underground facilities, and long tunnels leading to various bases throughout the area, etc. I was bored and descided to climb a nearby hill to get a better view of the stars; 3 friends came along with me, one with binoculars. We reached the top of the hill and not long after, noticed a light far off in the distance. It looked like an airplane's pilot light, but there were no wing lights or fusulauge strobe, tail lights, etc. just the one rather bright pilot light. It was coming from the direction opposite of the large group of people down below us about 100ft or so. We took turns looking at it through the binoculars, and then suddenly, the light turned dimm and then red and slowly faded out. We discussed it for some time and when no solution was found as to what it was we saw, we descided to descend and ask the "experts". There was a great deal of commotion going on and many people were saying things like "did you see it?", "It was long, orange and cigar shaped", It was squat and silver disk shaped, and they came out", "it was blue and flew by real fast", etc. but in each case, not one single person had anything ANYTHING that resembled the other's description of what happend. It was crazy! I think that the four of us were the only one's unaffected by the spectacle. It seemed like a big group hallucination and everybody saw somthing, but the pattern recognization skills could only relate to them what the conscience could handle. Anyhow, flabergasted, and in disbelief, we boarded our bus and headed towards Rachel. I awoke with a start abord the bus and found that most of it's occupanst were either just waking up or still asleep. I looked at my watch, it was one and a half hour later and we apparently were almost to our destination. Were did that time go? How could i have fell asleep so suddenly and how was it possible that every one else seemed equal in position? To this very day i have not been able to find out what happen aboard that bus during that time, i constantly dread the worst...implant! I have a bumb on my head ...just behind my right ear...this does not exsist anyware else on my body to my knowledge. When ever i try to talk about it or attempt to have it removed, i feel wierd...even typing about it right now is difficult..i find myself loosing focus. I need help. Someone who has had the same experience or can relate with me...i need to be seen by a physical therapist whom i can trust. The rest of the trip was uneventfull except for the fact that we nailed a spy who called himself "orangefruit". We overheard the gaurds over at area 51 talking about giant chickens and refering to a control # that obviously belonged to "orangefruit". When we called him on it, he promptly hung up and was never heard from again. We made recordings of the audio transactions that occurred between the gaurds and planed to play it on the air through Adventure Radio. The tape was consficated and the station was replaced by a Christian Radio broadcast. Typical. Anyway, i am serious about my request. Please send me any ANY info on who i can contact. ======================================================================= Date: Mon, 8 Sep 1997 22:38:50 -0800 To: JABALI@prodigy.net From: campbell@ufomind.com (Glenn Campbell, Las Vegas) Subject: Re: October 1988 "lost time" Thanks for the interesting story. May I post it to the Area 51 mailing list? (I can remove your name and email if you want.) Are you sure of the date? (That seems like an early year.) Where, exactly, did this gathering take place? ======================================================================= Date: Tue, 09 Sep 1997 11:37:41 -0700 From: JABALI <JABALI@prodigy.net> To: "Glenn Campbell, Las Vegas" <campbell@ufomind.com> Subject: Re: October 1988 "lost time" I don't see any problem with distibution of this story. Thank you for asking. As far as the date goes, I am absolutly sure of it's accuracy, i remember it as if it was yesterday....vividly. The location was called "the Vortex". It is apparently a common gathering place for people who wish to see UFO's. I think that we were the only one's who didn't see one that night. I can locate the place if i were to see it, but realize this was 9 years ago. ======================================================================= I have queried him to see if he knows the names of anyone involved in the 1988 trip. -- GC
