Our Review Opinion of the webmaster, subject to debate

This story of an unwilling Messiah pursued by the masses reminds us of reluctant UFO witness Bob Lazar. Brian (Graham Chapman) happens to have been born in a Bethlehem manger just down the street from Jesus. Although he has no interest in saving anyone, a Pythonesque series of events (including an alien abduction) eventually finds Brian pursued by hordes religious believers who seek his devine wisdom and guidance. In exasperation, Brian tells the crowd outside his window, "You've got to work it out for yourselves," to which the crowd replies in unison, "Yes, we've got to work it out for ourselves!" Then one lone voice: "Uh, how do we do that?" Brian flees, but the crowd follows. They even worship his shoe! Of course the story must end with a crucifiction -- but it's a rather upbeat and encouraging one. The closing number will keep you humming.... This movie ties Dr. Strangelove as our favorite satire. -- Glenn Campbell
