Old Edition - No longer available. A new edition is available as of April 1998. This record is retained for archive purposes only.... The first of three hefty volumes that constitute the last word in UFO references. Years in the making, Clark pulls together almost all that is known of the phenomenon, in a concise, well organized presentation. This is the Encyclopedia Britannica for UFOs, adhering to the same rigorous academic standards. Clark is refreshingly unbiased when discussing the subject, presenting all sides of each case. Each volume is the most complete reference on all UFO cases and personalities during the period covered. This is a professional technical publication (priced accordingly), with an extensive bibliography on each topic. At this price, these books are obviously not intended for the casual UFO buff, but anyone seriously devoted to UFO history should consider investing in the series. We use ours almost every day. Check out the lower priced abridged version first: The UFO Book. Unless you have a special interest in the 1980s, we recommend getting Volume 2 first (through 1959), followed by Volume 3. Volume 2 covers the key events at the beginning of the UFO movement and may be the most useful. -- Glenn Campbell
