David Darlington reports on us, the Groom Lake Interceptors. This book covers all the major Area 51 topics and people, including aviation history, UFO lore and the "E.T. Highway." This book describes the background of the secret base, but it is mostly about the sundry characters who lurk along the base's borders. Glenn Campbell, Tom Mahood, Bill Uhouse, Pat & Joe Travis, Tony LeVier, Agent X, Jim Goodall, John Andrews, Anthony Hilder and "Ambassador Merlyn Merlin II" are interviewed, and Darlington takes the tact of letting each character speak for himself. Although no truth is deduced at the end, that's not the point of the book. What we learn about is the fragility of truth. This book unfolds like a sort of murder mystery, in which the reader must look for subtexts in all of the interviews to determine who can be trusted. This is the first published book on Area 51 among several currently in the pipeline, and it will surely be known as the best. -- Glenn Campbell
