So you're walking in the woods and you spot an alien. How do you identify it? Simple: you whip out your Field Guide to Extraterrestrials and look it up. When we first saw the title of this book, we assumed it was some sort of clever satire. However we were surprised to find it quite serious, even intriguing. Huyghe has assembled eyewitness reports from the best sightings and built a taxonomy around them. Grays, Reptilians, Nordics, Men in Black and dozens more... a drawing and curriculum vitae is provided for each species. Does it matter whether any of these aliens are real? (Personally, we'd be happy to prove just one alien species.) There are certainly real in the human folklore, and like a guide to elves and gnomes this book makes an amusing gift. -- Glenn Campbell
