This is a great guide to the abandoned mining towns littering the deserts of Nevada and California. There's more towns dead than alive out there! Modern cities and highways are shown in black ink, and the ghost towns and historic places in red, complete with anecdotes documenting their significance and the years they existed. Useful in combination with Delorme's Nevada and California atlases and the Nevada Ghost Town map. (All of them are recommended equipment if you plan on actually heading into the hills.) -- Glenn Campbell
