"Close Encounters" ufologist Jaques Vallee analyzes several contemporary (1991) UFO cases including a chapter on Bob Lazar, who Vallee dismisses as a fraud. Other topics include a chapter on the MJ-12 papers, another on crashed saucers and smaller sections on the Bentwaters incident, the Gulf Breeze "fiasco" and a dozen lessor known cases. Vallee is critical of most of them, especially those that suggest a specific U.S. Government involvement. Vallee prefers his conspiracies at arms length, and to us his judgment seems clouded by his own preconceptions of what UFOs should be. Thus he rejects some fairly plausible cases while believing in others that seem far more absurd. We no longer regard Vallee as a cutting edge researcher, but the book is worth its paperback price at least for the background data it provides. His criticisms are worthy of note and should be read by anyone who is seriously researching the cases he reviews. -- Glenn Campbell

"Provocative ... intensively researched, thoughtful ... Watch the skies‹and read this book. "
"With this book, Jacques Vallee has added another important and reasoned analysis to his earlier and now classic considerations of the UFO conundrum.... No serious student of UFOs (pro or con) should ignore this addition to the debate."
In REVELATIONS, Dr. Jacques Vallee presents startling evidence that well constructed hoaxes and media manipulations have misled UFO researchers, diverting them from the real issues at hand in the UFO phenomenon.
Focussing in depth on cases reported in the United States and throughout the world, Dr. Vallee analyzes the full gamut of sensational UFO "incidents," from the alleged history of saucer "crashes" and the retrieval of aliens by the U.S. government to reports of a subterranean community of hostile humanoids in the American Southwest. In the process, he reveals that some of the most remarkable sightings are actually complex, carefully engineered hoaxes.
Part scientific detective story, part experiment in truth seeking, REVELATIONS is an astonishing document that is certain to provoke controversy.
"[A] bracing finale to Vallee's 'Alien Contact Trilogy' ... A forceful and refreshingly iconoclastic study."
