There certainly seems to be a lot of data in this book: It is packed with reproductions of stone inscriptions and references to ancient texts. Bases on his own unique translations of these texts, Sitchen argues that ancient astronauts visited our solar system aboard a "Twelfth Planet" whose orbit intersected with that of our own around the time of the ancient Sumarians. We are at a disadvantage when evaluating this book: We do not read Sumarian or have access to the texts like Sitchen supposedly does. We don't have any background in Near East archeology, so Sitchen's arguments are lost on us. They sound reasonable but could be rubbish. We want to hear from an accredited archeologist who can at least confirm the soundness of Sitchin's underlying research. As it stands, Sitchen's account is like that of a modern UFO abductee: It sounds convincing, but what can we do without more witnesses? -- Glenn
