Credibility: This catagory is a rating of the author's intellectual discipline and the strength of his argument (which are low), not the veracity of his claims (which could be true in spite of the weak argument). Cultural Interest: This is perhaps the most frequently cited abduction book in conversation.

This is probably the bestselling UFO book of all time -- 25 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. We don't understand why. There is no significant data here, just one man's claims, told in the form of a novel. Is it coincidence that the abductee is already a novelist, whose vocation is to dream up story lines? The facts, if any, are so buried in the storytelling process, that it doesn't make much difference. -- Glenn

Apart from this book itself, we are annoyed by Strieber's seeming penchant for endorsing every popular alien fad and his remarkable ability to "recall" new alien experiences whenever a new book contract requiries it.

Comparison to Other Books

In our opinion almost any other abduction book is more interesting if it features more than one witness.
