David Jacobs thinks he knows the alien agenda, and it ain't friendly. The visitors are breeding alien-human hybrids and aim to take over our planet.... and there's nothing we can do about it! Jacobs represents the pessimistic end of the abduction research spectrum. The trouble is, he is working from the same thin evidence as everyone else: abductee testimony retrieved through hypnosis. As a professor of history, not psychology, Jacobs doesn't bring us any closer to proving that these supposed memories are real. Jacobs mentions the opposing theories, such as false memory syndrome, but doesn't effectively address them. Most of the witnesses are anonymous, of course, so there isn't much that the rest of us can do to investigate. All of this makes us wonder: If the situation is inevitable, unprovable and hopeless, why worry? Why can't Jacobs just be happy? -- Glenn Campbell
