This is a very useful reference book -- with a useless title. It would be more appropriately called "A Reader's Guide to UFO Books." Over 150 books are summarized, including all of the most influential titles published from 1919 through 1997. Works by Adamski, Sagan, Scully, Friedman, Sitchin, Strieber, Hopkins, Randle, Randles, Blum, Keel and dozens of other authors are represented here. The summaries are neutral, simply stating each book's claims without trying to evaluate them. About a third of these books are still in print (and are available through our catalog), while the rest are hard to find. Summaries are 1-4 pages in length and are grouped by five general topics: Ancient Astronauts, UFOs and UFO Occupants, Contactees & Abductees, Debunkers & Skeptics, and Contacting Extraterrestrial Intelligence. Prior to the internet and the recent explosion of UFO documentaries on TV, books were the main medium for conveying UFO claims. Thus, this volume provides a surprising complete review of UFO history as well as UFO literature. -- Glenn Campbell

"Highly recommended...[it] will help interested readers sort out a very complex topic"--Library Journal review.
COSMIC TEST TUBE is an encyclopedic volume that explores all the major ideas, theories, and evidence presented by every major writer in this area and spanning the entire 20th century -- Charles Fort, Carl Sagan, Erich von Daniken, Budd Hopkins, Whitley Strieber, Arthur C. Clarke and dozens more.
In addition to what is an incisively written, well-organized, virtual library of information, COSMIC TEST TUBE includes 100 pages of the author's own original research and synthesis of what happened at Roswell in 1947, the mystery of crop circles, cattle mutilations, structures on Mars, and accounts of human abductions.
You will get hours of fascinating reading with COSMIC TEST TUBE. Randall Fitzgerald's knowledge and depth of understanding in this area never ceases to amaze. This book is the fastest and easiest way to become an expert on alien visitation without being abducted by aliens!
"A fascinating and informative book. Fitzgerald's penetrating insights are illuminating and make you wonder what forms of life are out there and shall we ever meet them."--Victor Marchetti, former CIA official and co-author of THE CIA AND THE CULT OF INTELLIGENCE.
From the Author: "After two decades as an investigative reporter in Washington, D.C., writing for The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and Reader's Digest, I became frustrated with both believers and debunkers in the debate over extraterrestrial visitation. They seemed more concerned with defending their own beliefs than in searching objectively for the truth. My own search began in 1978 by founding Second Look, a magazine devoted to a dialogue about the origins of civilization, the nature of consciousness, and the search for other intelligent life. My book COSMIC TEST TUBE is a continuation of these efforts to navigate a middle ground between visitation advocates and cynics. With this book you now have access to all the theories, ideas, and evidence--pro and con--about alien visitation, so you can make up your own mind!"
