A collection of newspaper articles for the year 1947 -- considered to be the birth of the flying saucer era. In addition to the Roswell and Kenneth Arnold incidents, the popular media virtually erupted with UFO stories in that year. The main goal of Project 1947 and this report is the comb through thousands of newspapers for interesting UFO stories. Most of the original articles are on blurry microfilm or crumbling hard copy. This document provides the retyped text of hundreds of articles. The product of hundreds, if not thousands of hours of labor, this document is a valuable resource for anyone interested in that era. -- Glenn Campbell
