Some of the roads shown are private and gated and others have been swallowed by the jungle. See the Ultimate Kauai Guidebook for access to the area. Essential for repeat visitors and anyone intending to do a lot of hiking on Kauai. As frequent visitors to Kauai, this is one of only two tourist guides that we strongly recommend (although first-time visitors can probably get buy with "The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook" alone). Written by former Kauai residents who have explored every possible trail and recreational opportunity. Information is mainly in text, with only basic photos and maps.
