We were not sure that the world needed Phil Klass's take on the Roswell crash, but nonetheless here it is: released after most of the Roswell hoopla has died down anyway. Can you guess his conclusion? No alien craft crashed near Roswell! Okay, if there is nothing new in Klass's attitude, it is still interesting to see the current Roswell debate filtered through his jaundiced eye. Because it was completed recently, the book covers some of the later developments not reported in others, including Project Mogul, the GAO report, Pflock's criticism of Glenn Dennis, the fall of Don Schmitt and the defection of Kent Jeffrey. Having been around ufology longer than most still-living proponents, Klass seems to have plenty of dirt on everyone, and he follows up on a lot of previously unresolved issues. We are impressed with the sheer density of data here. Klass's strength is keeping track of documents and sequences of events. Although he uses no footnotes, he gives precise dates for almost every event he mentions and provides enough clues to lead us to the source document. Even if you don't agree with his slant, this is an important reference work on the Roswell case and probably Klass's best book yet. -- Glenn Campbell
