A psychologist is telling her patients that they need to
look into their "past lives" for solutions to their
current personal problems.
While this reviewer is willing to entertain the possibility
of reincarnation, Fiore is behaving as though it were proven fact
and is basing a method of therapy upon it.
She gives people an easy escape from responsibilty:
Instead of facing our own problems in the current life,
we are encouraged to blame them on events that happened,
say, in Cleopatra's day. While this approach
may have a certain placebo effect and indeed help some patients,
others are going to be lured away from the proven,
present-day treatment they
need. This is another in a long line of dubious books
in which hynosis is used to "retrieve" deeply hidden memories.
Unfortunately, such memories can be just as easily confabulated,
and unless you have an outside reality to check them against
there is no way to be sure which is which.
